Here are the NBA game notes for games that were played on January 11, 2023.
What Can Brown Do for You?
Jaylen Brown recorded game highs of 41 points and 12 rebounds as the Boston Celtics beat the New Orleans Pelicans 125-114. The Celtics have won four straight games and eight of their last 10 after a season-worst three-game losing streak.
Brown shot 15-21 from the field — including 3-6 from 3-point range — and made eight of his nine free throws. He’s the first Celtic to record a 40-point, 10-rebound game with 70% shooting from the field since Larry Bird on March 11, 1990.
Teammate Jayson Tatum scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Brown and Tatum are the first Celtics duo to each record at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in the same game since Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker on March 7, 2001.
Brown and Tatum have each scored at least 30 points in the same game 19 times, 10 more such games than any other duo in franchise history:
19 — Jaylen Brown & Jayson Tatum
9 — Larry Bird & Kevin McHale
8 — Paul Pierce & Antoine Walker
7 — John Havlicek & Jo Jo White
The Pelicans’ CJ McCollum scored a team-high 38 points in the loss, shooting 15-24 from the field with six 3-pointers made. In the nine games McCollum has played without Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson this season, he’s averaging 26.1 PPG and 7.0 APG with a 3-point field goal percentage of 42.3%. The Pelicans have a record of 6-3 in those games.
