NBA Game Notes (March 4, 2024)
Here are the NBA game notes for games that were played on March 4, 2024.
Three Stars
The three stars in ice hockey are the three best players in a game, with the “first star” considered the best of the three players, similar to the player of the match in other sports. Here are my “three stars” from yesterday’s NBA games.
First ⭐️
Jordan Clarkson came off the bench to score a season-high 38 points, adding 10 rebounds and a team-high seven assists (tied with Collin Sexton) in the Utah Jazz’s 127-115 win over the hapless Washington Wizards. Clarkson is the first nonstarter to record at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a game since Campy Russell on Dec. 30, 1975.
Clarkson went 13-26 from the floor (4-9 on 3-pointers) and 8-9 from the free throw line. He committed just one turnover and one personal foul in a game-high 36 minutes played.
Clarkson now has 13 career 30-point games coming off the bench for the Jazz, breaking a tie with Thurl Bailey for the most such games in franchise history. Clarkson has 17 such games overall (i.e., for all teams), almost double that of any other active player (Tyler Herro, nine).
Second ⭐️
Coby White scored a career-high 37 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 113-109 victory over the Sacramento Kings. He also dished out a team-high seven assists (tied with Alex Caruso) and grabbed five rebounds.
White made 14 of his 19 shots from the field, including five of his nine 3-point attempts. It’s the 12th time he’s made at least five 3-pointers in a game this season, tying Zach LaVine (three times) for the most such games in a single season in franchise history.
Third ⭐️
Damian Lillard scored a game-high 41 points as the Milwaukee Bucks — absent superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo — rallied to defeat the LA Clippers 113-106. The Bucks outscored the Clippers 40-25 in the fourth quarter, with Lillard scoring 10 points while playing all 12 minutes.
Lillard shot 12-22 from the field — including 4-9 from 3-point range — and made all 13 of his free throws. He now has 58 career 40-point games, tying Bob McAdoo for 15th place on the NBA’s all-time list.
