Here are the NBA game notes for games that were played on November 18, 2022.
Doncic Reaches Milestone
The Mavericks’ Luka Doncic tallied 33 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists in a 127-99 win over the shorthanded Nuggets. He became the 10th player in NBA history to reach 50 career triple-doubles.
Doncic is the second-fastest player in NBA history to reach that mark (by games played):
111 — Oscar Robertson
278 — Luka Doncic
279 — Magic Johnson
416 — Nikola Jokic
614 — Russell Westbrook
He’s also the second-youngest player in NBA history to record 50 triple-doubles (age in years-days):
23-042 — Oscar Robertson
23-263 — Luka Doncic
24-091 — Magic Johnson
26-011 — Nikola Jokic
28-035 — Russell Westbrook
It’s the 25th time Doncic has recorded a 30-point triple-double, the fifth-most such games in NBA history:
106 — Oscar Robertson
48 — Russell Westbrook
37 — LeBron James
35 — James Harden
25 — Luka Doncic
Doncic led all players on both teams in points, rebounds, and assists, the 16th time he’s been the outright leader in all three categories in a game. Only four players in NBA history have recorded more such games:
41 — Russell Westbrook
35 — LeBron James
33 — Wilt Chamberlain
26 — Giannis Antetokounmpo
Doncic made 11 of his 22 field goal attempts, the 10th time he’s scored at least 30 points on 50% shooting from the field this season. Only two other players in NBA history have recorded 10 such games in their first 14 games of a season:
Wilt Chamberlain, 1962-63
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, 2022-23
Finally, Doncic has recorded at least 20 points and five assists in each of his 14 games this season, tying the second-longest such streak to start a season in NBA history:
22 — James Harden, 2017-18
14 — Allen Iverson, 2005-06
14 — Luka Doncic, 2022-23
13 — Oscar Robertson, 1962-63
Embiid on a Tear
Joel Embiid had 32 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, and three blocks to lead the Sixers to a 110-102 victory over the Bucks. He had 19 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in the second half as the Sixers overcame a seven-point halftime deficit.
Embiid is averaging 45.5 PPG, 11.0 RPG, 8.0 APG, and 5.0 BPG over his last two games. Since the NBA began tracking blocks in 1973-74, he’s the only player to average at least 40.0 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 5.0 APG, and 5.0 BPG over a two-game span.
Embiid has tallied at least 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in each of his last three games. The last Sixer to record three such games in a row was Billy Cunningham in March 1970. In fact, Embiid, Cunningham, and Wilt Chamberlain (multiple times) are the only players in franchise history to reach those marks in at least three straight games.
Booker and Markkanen Duel
Devin Booker produced 49 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists, but it wasn’t enough as the Jazz beat the Suns 134-33.
It’s the ninth time Booker has scored at least 45 points in a game, seven more such games than any other player in franchise history:
9 — Devin Booker
2 — Paul Westphal
2 — Tom Chambers
2 — Charles Barkley
2 — Amar’e Stoudemire
He’s dished out at least 10 assists in three of those games. The only other players in franchise history to record a 45-point, 10-assist game are Gail Goodrich and Alvan Adams (one each).
Lauri Markkanen led the way for the winners, scoring a career-high 38 points on 15-18 (83.3%) shooting from the field. Markkanen has two career games in which he’s scored at least 30 points with a field goal percentage of 70%. Both have come this season.
He’s Back, Folks
Anthony Davis had 38 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks, powering the Lakers to a 128-121 win over the Pistons. He made 10 of his 16 shots from the field and 18 of his 21 free throws.
Davis became the first Laker to record at least 35 points and 15 rebounds in consecutive games since Shaquille O’Neal did so on Jan. 4 & 5, 2000. He’s also the first Laker since O’Neal in 2002-03 to average at least 30 PPG and 15 RPG over a three-game span.
Lowry Oldest with 20/10/15
The Heat’s Kyle Lowry tallied 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 15 assists in an overtime loss to the Wizards. He became the oldest player in NBA history to record at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 15 assists in a game (age in years-days):
36-238 — Kyle Lowry (Nov. 18, 2022)
34-306 — LeBron James (Nov. 11, 2019)
34-146 — Elgin Baylor (Feb. 9, 1969)
34-044 — James (Feb. 12, 2019)
33-193 — Kevin Durant (April 10, 2022)
Lowry played 51 minutes, the second-highest total of his career in a regular-season game. The last player age 36 years or older to play at least 51 minutes in a game was Clifford Robinson on Feb. 8, 2004 (37 years, 54 days).
LeBron Gets Company
Darius Garland had 41 points, six assists, and five steals to lead the Cavaliers to a 132-122 double-overtime victory over the Hornets. Garland scored 13 of his points in the overtime periods.
Since the NBA began tracking steals in 1973-74, Garland is just the second Cavalier to record at least 40 points, five assists, and five steals in a game. He joins LeBron James, who did so on Feb. 6, 2010.
Teammate Evan Mobley tallied 21 points, 18 rebounds, and five assists. He’s just the second player in franchise history to record at least 20 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists in a game before his 22nd birthday. James did so twice (Nov. 29, 2003 and April 14, 2005).
Curry Extends Streaks
The Warriors’ Stephen Curry scored 24 points and dished out 10 assists in a 111-101 win over the Knicks. Curry has made at least one 3-pointer in each of his last 204 regular-season games, by far the longest such streak in NBA history:
204 — Stephen Curry
157 — Curry
127 — Kyle Korver
99 — Jordan Clarkson
95 — Klay Thompson
Curry has made at least three 3-pointers in each of his 15 games this season, the longest such streak to start a season in NBA history. No other player has started a season with more than eight such games in a row.
Curry has made 77 3-pointers this season. He’s the only player in NBA history to reach 75 3-pointers made through his first 15 games of a season. Curry has now done so three times, also achieving the feat in 2018-19 and 2021-22.
