Board Man Gets Paid
Ivica Zubac had the best game of his career, scoring 31 points (one shy of his career high) and grabbing 29 rebounds (a career high by 11) to lead the Clippers past the Pacers 114-100. Zubac hit 14 of his 17 shots from the field (82.4%) and made all three of his free throws.
Zubac is just the third player in the last 50 NBA seasons to record a 30-point, 25-rebound game with a field goal percentage of at least 80%:
Charles Barkley (March 30, 1986)
Shaquille O’Neal (March 21, 2004)
Ivica Zubac (Nov. 27, 2022)
Zubac’s 29 rebounds are the most by a Clipper since Michael Cage snagged 30 rebounds on April 24, 1988. Cage and Swen Nater (two times) are the only players in franchise history to record a 30-rebound game.
The Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton dished out 11 assists in the loss, his fifth straight game in double figures. Haliburton has recorded at last 10 assists 14 times this season, five more such games than any other player.
Efficient Giannis
The Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo tallied 30 points and 11 rebounds in just 29 minutes in a 124-115 win over the Mavericks. Antetokounmpo made 11 of his 19 shots from the field (57.9%).
Antetokounmpo has scored at least 30 points on 55% shooting from the field in each of his last four games, matching the longest such streak of his career. The franchise record of five such games in a row is held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (March 1971).
It’s the 17th time Antetokounmpo has recorded a 30-point, 10-rebound game while playing 30 or fewer minutes, the most such games since the ABA-NBA merger:
17 — Giannis Antetokounmpo
12 — Joel Embiid
7 — Karl Malone
7 — DeMarcus Cousins
6 — Karl-Anthony Towns
Teammate Grayson Allen scored 25 points and tied his career high with seven 3-pointers made. Allen shot 7-7 from 3-point range in the first half, matching the most 3-pointers made without a miss in a half over the last 25 seasons.
The Mavericks’ Luka Doncic compiled 27 points, 12 assists, and five rebounds in the loss. Doncic has recorded at least 20 points and five assists in each of his 18 games this season, the second-longest such streak to start a season in NBA history.
Morant Ties Franchise Mark
Ja Morant had 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists as the Grizzlies survived a wild second half to beat the Knicks 127-123. The two teams combined for 144 points in the third and fourth quarters, tying the Grizzlies’ franchise record for most combined points in a second half.
It was Morant’s fifth career triple-double, tying the franchise record held by Marc Gasol. He has 13 career 25-point, 10-assist games, five more such games than any other player in franchise history.
The Knicks’ Jalen Brunson scored 30 points and dished out nine assists, raising his seasons totals to 436 and 133, respectively. The last Knick to match or exceed both of those totals through their first 20 games of a season was Ray Williams in 1979-80.
Splash Brothers Make History
Stephen Curry produced 25 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists as the Warriors defeated the Timberwolves 137-114 for just their second road win of the season. Curry — who shot 4-11 from 3-point range — has made at least three 3-pointers in each of his 19 games this season, the longest such streak to start a season in NBA history by 11 games.
Fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson scored 21 points, making five of his eight 3-point field goal attempts. Curry and Thompson have each scored at least 20 points in the same game 193 times, tying Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum for the most such games in NBA history by a backcourt duo.
Teammate Draymond Green scored 19 points and dished out 11 assists for his first double-double of the season. It’s the 101st time Green has recorded at least 10 assists in a game. The only power forward or center in NBA history with more such games is Nikola Jokic with 116.
Sixers New Dynamic Duo
Shake Milton and Tobias Harris once again combined to lead the Sixers to a win, this one a 133-103 blowout of the Magic:
Milton — 29 PTS, 5 REB, 7 AST, 10-13 FG
Harris — 25 PTS, 5 REB, 5 AST, 10-14 FG
They are just the fifth duo since the ABA-NBA merger to each record at least 25 points, five rebounds, and five assists in a game while shooting 70% from the field:
Charles Barkley and Johnny Dawkins (Nov. 2, 1990)
Chris Webber and Billy Owens (April 12, 1994)
Webber and Juwan Howard (April 6, 1997)
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray (Feb. 15, 2018)
Shake Milton and Tobias Harris (Nov. 27, 2022)
Milton has recorded at least 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists in each of his last three games. Prior to this stretch, he had never recorded even two such games in a row.
Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 18 points. He’s just the seventh rookie in NBA history to score at least 15 points in each of the first 13 games of his career (NBL and ABA veterans excluded):
Wilt Chamberlain, 1959-60
Elvin Hayes, 1968-69
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 1969-70
Terry Cummings, 1982-83
Ralph Sampson, 1983-84
Michael Jordan, 1984-85
Paolo Banchero, 2022-23
First for Adebayo
Bam Adebayo scored 32 points and snagged eight rebounds to power the Heat to a 106-98 victory over the Hawks. Adebayo surpassed 5,000 career points, becoming the 12th player in franchise history to reach that mark.
Adebayo has recorded back-to-back 30-point games for the first time in his career. In those two games, Adebayo has scored 70 points on 28-42 shooting from the field (66.7%) and has made all 14 of his free throws.
Teammate Tyler Herro struggled from the field (0-8 from 3-point range) but tallied 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists for his first career triple-double.
The Hawks’ Trae Young scored 22 points and dished out a season-high 14 assists in a losing effort. Young now has 103 career 20-point, 10-assist games. The only players in NBA history with more such games before their 25th birthday are Oscar Robertson and Isiah Thomas.
