Twyman Sets Franchise Mark
On this day in 1960, the Cincinnati Royals’ Jack Twyman scored a franchise* single-game record 59 points in a 122-118 win over the Minneapolis Lakers. Twyman also collected 14 rebounds, shooting 21-39 from the field (53.8%) and 17-20 from the free throw line (85.0%).
* The franchise is now known as the Sacramento Kings, but Twyman’s record still stands.
This was Twyman’s second career 50-point game. At the time, only three players in NBA history had recorded more such games:
4 — George Mikan
3 — Bob Pettit
3 — Elgin Baylor
