Career Night for Melo
On this day in 2014, the New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony scored a career-high and franchise-record 62 points in a 125-96 blowout win over the Charlotte Bobcats. Anthony and Bernard King (Dec. 25, 1984) are the only players in franchise history to record a 60-point game.
Anthony also grabbed 13 rebounds and did not commit a turnover. Since the NBA began tracking individual turnovers in 1977-78, Anthony is the only player to record a 60-point, 10-rebound game without committing a turnover.
Anthony shot 23-35 from the field — including 6-11 from 3-point range — and made all 10 of his free throws. Anthony is one of only four players in NBA history to record a 60-point game without missing a free throw (a total of six instances):
Damian Lillard (3 times)
Kobe Bryant
Carmelo Anthony
Kemba Walker
